Chlamydia is a common STI that can be treated with antibiotics.
Nationally around 1:10 sexually active women and men between the ages of 16 and 25 who are tested, have Chlamydia. If untreated, Chlamydia can cause complications such as ectopic pregnancy, infertility, pelvic infection in women, pain, infertility, sexually acquired reactive arthritis and infection of the testicles in men.
Most women and men will not know if they have the infection as there are usually no symptoms. |
